Effective Governance – Monitoring, Audits and Competencies – Twilight

This session is for all School Governors.

 

Purpose: To support Governors in monitoring and self-evaluation of school performance.

 

Topics to be covered:

Visions - School aims and a clear code of practice for the school community.

 

Strategic planning for effective governance and the school –strategies – time lines and deadlines – expectations – communication – safeguarding.

 

Link governors role and gathering evidence - asking sensitive questions – working with specialist staff – challenge, passing observations and findings on to the school and senior staff -  determining a broad and balanced curriculum - holding themselves and the school to account.

 

Audits, analysis and development of governance for the whole school – an ethos for leadership – joined up thinking and togetherness – pupil progress data – whole school self-evaluation and determining priorities for improvement.

 

Competences for governors and succession planning, - individual /team governor audits and self-evaluation leading to planning for training and more effective governance.

 

Governor training - understanding school finance, strategic planning, for the site, buildings and facilities (maintenance – replacement of resources - IT).

 

A digital workbook will be provided for participants, with outlines for frameworks for schools to customise and develop for their own good practice.

 

Cost: 1 Governor £50, 2 Governors £80, 3 Governors £100.
