Content:
Through a mix of input and practical activity participants will have an opportunity to explore current challenges for Heads and the qualities and skills required to lead change effectively through the use of a range of leadership styles and interpersonal skills.
Participants will leave having individually targeted the development of critical leadership skills and created a robust action plan for success.
 
The course fee includes the cost of a highly useful workbook, published by Hay Group, which will build on learning and provide ongoing development and support in the workplace.
 
Day 1
9.15 am - arrival and refreshments
Session 1 – 9.30 am prompt - Exploring the current experience of Headship
Session 2 – Skills and qualities required to lead and sustain effective change
Session 3 – Practising key communication skills when meeting with individuals or teams
Session 4 - Self-analysis and identification of personal learning agenda
Session 5 – Developing coaching skills to raise motivation and drive improvement
In the time between days 1 and 2 participants will work on their learning agenda, practise new behaviours and gain feedback on leadership impact.
 
Day 2
9.15 am – Arrival and refreshments
Session 1 – 9.30am prompt Review of self-directed learning and evaluation of personal Leadership impact
Session 2 - Holding others to account – how highly effective leaders do this
Session 3 - Sustaining personal resilience and optimism
Session 4 - Creating an individualised strategic approach to leading sustainable change. To include critical skills of time management, prioritising, delegating, “being kind to self”
Session 5 - Tools for measuring impact
