Recruitment & Selection of Staff

The recruitment of the right staff can make or break any organisation. Given its significance, it demands considerable time and care. Yet careful processes can still deliver the wrong result. In addition to being highly competent, staff in schools must also be suitable in terms of upholding the school’s responsibility to safeguard the welfare of its pupils.

This course will enable you to review your arrangements for staff appointments in line with best practice in the education and other sectors.

It will cover:

  • The legal responsibility and delegation of powers for appointments

  • The essential elements of a successful appointments process: advertisement, further particulars, shortlisting, interviews, references, pre-employment checks

  • Research into effective selection methods

  • Safer recruitment requirements

  • Complying with equalities’ legislation

  • Induction and probation
