Content: Through a mix of input and practical activities participants will have an opportunity to explore their new role and what is expected of them. We will look at the particularly critical skills required to influence and motivate the staff whom they are leading – assertiveness, clarity of thinking and planning and clear articulation of messages.

Participants will leave having individually targeted a particular development which they will lead.


Session 1 – Start 9.30 prompt – Exploring the new role of subject/team leader. What is expected of me and what can I expect of others?

Session 2 – Influencing skills and qualities required to lead positive change and address obstacles

Session 3 – Motivating self and others

Session 4 – Being good to self – time management and resilience

Session 5 – Identification and target setting for a particular development in school.
