Julie Rolands - Pen Portrait and Testimonials

Julie Rowlands

In a varied and interesting career, I have lectured in environmental studies; worked as a museum curator; been a pond warden; wild life watch leader; worked in non-maintained nurseries; been a supply teacher and have run my own small business. I returned to teaching six years ago and have taught in Foundation stage two at Whitchurch infant and nursery school since 2008. I trained as a forest leader in 2010 and have developed outdoor learning in the school since then and more recently have become subject lead for science. In addition to FS1, 2 and KS 1 sessions, I have led forest school sessions for children’s centre families, parents and during summer school. We currently have over 120 children per week accessing our forest school provision throughout the year.

I have been described as pathologically passionate about Forest school and outdoor learning and thoroughly enjoy sharing my passion for mud and wood with the young people and other adults in our school community.
