Chris Gajewski has had a broad range of experience within schools and local authorities nationally as a head teacher, school improvement partner and adviser. He is currently working as a freelance school improvement consultant and is also a lead assessor for the ‘Challenge Award’ which involves him assessing good and outstanding primary and secondary schools throughout the country to review the on-going quality or provision by observing learning, scrutinising work, interviewing staff, parents, governors and pupils and reviewing a broad range of evidence. His work is highly regarded by schools as he quickly establishes positive and effective working relationships through honest challenge and measured professional support.
Content:
This session will explore the role of the governing body in supporting and challenging schools as team members, mechanisms for efficient, effective procedures in enhancing school leadership and management, and a range of support materials will be shared.
The governors strategic role be explored alongside the operational role of the school management team and examples of good practice will be shared . In addition, overall statutory responsibilities will be reviewed and there will be a question and answer session.
Course attendance will support newly appointed governors to rapidly become active and knowledgeable partners in on going school development.
